KINGSTON, N.Y. — Six Kingston residents shared their experience of owning a home in the city, including how one came to purchase hers, how a neighbor’s actions are affecting the quality of life of another, and how others feel about living in a community but worrying their neighbors are being displaced by increasing rental and housing costs.
The residents were invited to speak Wednesday evening to members of the Kingston Common Council during the second of a series of forums on housing in the city.
Council Majority Leader Reynolds Scott-Childress said the forums are designed to give lawmakers a well-rounded understanding of the nature of housing in Kingston and related problems. He said the information would allow the council to create a housing policy that ensures all Kingston residents have access to decent, affordable and comfortable homes.
